With this client being a high profile international businessman, and the project being located in the penthouse apartment of a Birmingham highrise, we knew we had got our work cut out for us – not only to meet his high expectations, but to carry out the installation in a fluid and efficient way. The brief was to supply and install two fully-integrated matching home cinema systems that were extremely easy to use, one in the living room and one in the master bedroom. Also, each system had to be able to be used and heard whilst outside on the respective balconies.
The solution we provided him with was two fully recessed Sonance 7.1 speaker systems backed up by twin zone Denon amplifiers providing an intense, room-filling experience whilst also allowing the audio to be heard on the balcony through the Sonance mariner series external speakers. Connected to the surround system was Sky+ HD, a Blu-ray player and an iPod dock in each room viewed through a 50-inch white Sony Flatscreen with walnut trim to match the AV cabinets.
To allow ease of use, we did away with all the remote controls and installed two Phillips Pronto TSU9400s touchscreen multi-remote controls. This allowed the user to switch on and set up the whole system at the touch of one button on the display. With these handsets being Wifi-enabled, it allowed us to hide away all the AV equipment out of sight and mind.
